Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ben Rowen made his major league debut with the Texas Rangers on June 15, 2014, four years after having been selected in the 22nd round of the 2010 amateur draft out of Virginia Tech. He made 8 appearances for the Rangers, all in relief, with no decisions and a 4.15 ERA. He was released by the Rangers after the season, but was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers early in 2015. That off-season, he underwent thoracic outlet surgery, a procedure that included the removal of one of his ribs. He was still recovering from this when on April 9th, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, along with catching prospect Chris O'Brien, in return for P Ryan Webb, C Brian Ward, and a competitive balance round pick in the 2015 amateur draft.
