Quebec-Ontario-Vermont League
The Quebec-Ontario-Vermont League, also known as the Quebec-Ontario League, was a six-team class B league that operated only in 1924, taking over the four clubs of the Eastern Canada League and adding two more that were based in Vermont. While the Rutland team did well on the field, the Vermont expansion, which added considerably to travel costs, was not successful. Montpelier played some of its home games in St. Albans, VT, closer to Quebec. Still, both Vermont teams were dropped on July 15th when the league terminated the Montpelier club, and the Rutland team disbanded. After having to play the 1923 season out of Montreal, the Ottawa Canadiens returned to Canada's Capital Region, playing their Sunday games in Hull, QC. The Outremont Canadiens replaced the Trois-Rivières, QC franchise and shared Atwater Stadium with the Montreal Royals. The Canadiens were owned by Léo Dandurand, who also owned the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens. Dandurand attempted to build an all-French Canadian team, sporting the same colors as its NHL counterpart. The team was not very successful on the field or at the gate. The Quebec Bulldogs won both halves of the season, and no playoffs were scheduled. The league folded after the season.
