Biographical Information[edit]
Joseph "Patsy" O'Rourke played over a decade in the minors and came to the majors in 1908. He managed a number of times in the minors, including taking the Bristol State Liners to the Appalachian League title in 1922. O'Rourke was later a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox.
"Joe O'Rourke . . . who made good as manager of Wichita during the last half of the season, says that 'Dazzy' Vance, the young right-handed pitcher, is going to be another Alexander, and Joe ought to know because it was he, and not the many thousands who claim credit, who really picked the famous Nebraskan." - Sporting Life's Philadelphia correspondent, Nov 7, 1914, commenting on O'Rourke's ability to spot promising pitchers
