Biographical Information[edit]

Pim Vijkvinkel has played in the Hoofdklasse and for the Dutch national team.

He debuted in the 2019 Hoofdklasse, going 0 for 7 for the Silicon Storks, as a backup catcher. In 2020, he went 2 for 9 with two walks. Moving to the Hoofddorp Pioniers, he batted .292/.433/.292 as a third-string backstop in 2021 and .333/.544/.367 with 15 walks in 15 games in 2022. He joined the Amsterdam Pirates in 2023 and was 3-for-31 but began pitching as well; he was 0-3 with 4 saves and a 4.09 ERA. He trailed only Nick Keur and Aaron de Groot in saves. He allowed three unearned runs in four innings in the 2023 European Champions Cup, losing extra-inning games to Parma's Anderson De Leon and HCAW's Lars Huijer. He tied Thibault Mercadier for the event lead in losses. [1] He helped Amsterdam upset Neptunus to win the 2023 Holland Series; in Game 2, he retired six of seven batters to save Nelmerson Angela's victory.

Between all rounds of the 2024 Hoofdklasse, he was 5-4 with 3 saves and a 2.10 ERA; he tied Mike Groen for 10th in appearances (23) and tied for fifth in saves. [2] Making the Dutch team for the 2024 Premier 12, he was roughed up in his lone outing. Relieving Scott Prins in the bottom of the 8th with a 9-2 deficit against Team USA, he got Drake Baldwin on a grounder but walked Termarr Johnson and Chandler Simpson. Matt Ward then homered, ending the game due to the mercy rule. Only Bryan Caceres (108.00) and Ojani Chacon (infinite) had higher ERAs for the tourney. [3]
