Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Termarr Johnson was the fourth overall pick of the 2022 amateur draft, taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of a high school in Atlanta, GA. It was a draft dominated by highly talented high school hitters, as the first two picks, Jackson Holliday and Druw Jones, fit that profile, as did Elijah Green, selected immediately after him. He was quickly signed for a bonus of $7.2 million, slightly above slot value.

He spent his first professional season in 2022 with the FCL Pirates and the Bradenton Marauders of the Florida State League, hitting .222 in 23 games. In 2023, he played 75 games at Bradenton before being promoted to the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League for another 30 games. In 105 games total, his slash line was .244/.422/.438 with 18 homers and 59 RBIs, drawing a whooping 101 walks and scoring 83 runs. He was named a FSL postseason All-Star and a Pirates organizational All-Star. He was back at Greensboro for the start of the 2024 season and was selected to represent the National League at the 2024 Futures Game. He hit .238 in 110 games for Greensboro, then was promoted to the AA Altoona Curve at the end of August and played 14 games in the Eastern League. His overall slash line between the two teams was .237/.367/.386, with 19 doubles and 15 homers. with 82 runs scored and 54 RBIs in 124 games. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League, then was added to Team USA for the 2024 Premier 12.

He is the youngest of four brothers, all of whom have been very supportive of his budding career from the time he was a little kid. Tervell Johnson, who is two years older, played in college and in various summer collegiate leagues. Another brother, Terrenz, is a musician using the name Levels and his song "Twin Time" has served as Termarr's walk-up music in the minors.
