Biographical Information[edit]

Anderson de León has pitched in the minors, the independent leagues and in Italy and for the Spanish national team.

He was 9-2 with a save and a 2.20 ERA at Iowa Central in 2016-2017. [1] The Cincinnati Reds then took him in the 24th round of the 2017 amateur draft, but he only pitched one inning for the AZL Reds that summer (retiring all three batters, two by strikeout) and did not pitch again in the Reds chain.

In 2019, he was 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA for the Long Island Ducks. After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19, he had a 6-6, 5.26 record as a swingman for the '21 Ducks. His 109 strikeouts were second in the Atlantic League, four shy of former major leaguer Henry Owens. He split 2022 between the Ducks (3-4, Sv, 5.45 in 27 G) and the Gateway Grizzlies (0-1, Sv, 4.60 in 11 G).

Signing with Italy's Parmaclima club, he beat Pim Vijkvinkel and the Amsterdam Pirates in a 2023 European Champions Cup game; he was 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA for the event, in which Parma finished second. [2] He went 2-0 with a save and a 0.83 ERA in the 2023 Serie A1, striking out 25 and walking four in 21 2/3 IP. He then was with Spain for the 2023 European Championship. He debuted against Greece, relieving fellow former Reds farmhand Orlando Rodríguez in the third with a 4-1 lead. He struck out Nick Spiliotis, allowed a single to Akili Carris and got Hondro Torres out before Carris was caught stealing. In the 4th, he got Tom Roulis looking and Ari Sechopoulos on a fly. Dimitri Kourtis doubled but was stranded when Antonio Torres grounded out. Former major leaguer Rhiner Cruz took over and Anderson got the win over Kourtis. He then did not appear again until the semifinal match with the Dutch national team, the defending champs, when the right-hander got the starting nod against Tom de Blok. Things did not go as well this time as he allowed three hits, two walks and three runs (two earned) in 1 1/3 IP before Fernando Baez took over, but Spain wound up with an upset 7-6 win by pounding the Dutch bullpen en route to their first European Championship title since 1955.
