History[edit]
Northwest Florida State College was founded in 1963 as Okaloosa-Walton Junior College. Its name changed a couple of times over the years, before settling on Okaloosa-Walton College from 2003 to 2008. That year, it abandoned the historical name in exchange for a geographically-based moniker, after it was allowed by a legislative change to issue four-year degrees.
NW Florida State won the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in 2015.
