Biographical Information[edit]
Jeff Farnsworth went 1-0 with a run allowed in three innings in four relief games for Team USA in the Americas qualifier for the 2008 Olympics.
Although Jeff has had only one season in the bigs, he was busy then, with 44 appearances with the Detroit Tigers in 2002.
He and his contemporary Kyle Farnsworth have been the only two major leaguers with the last name Farnsworth.
Farnsworth signed with Nettuno for 2009. In the first stage of the 2009 European Cup, he allowed one run in six innings and fanned 8 in a loss to the L&D Amsterdam Pirates, getting outdueled by Adam Blackley. He made his Italian Baseball League debut on April 11, starting the second half of a doubleheader after Giovanni Carrara got the call in the opener. Jeff fanned 10 and allowed 2 runs in six innings versus Godo but got a no-decision in a 4-3 Nettuno win.
In the Final Four of the 2009 European Cup, Farnsworth won MVP honors, fanning 14 and allowing five hits in 8 shutout innings versus Bologna in the finale, outdueling Yulman Ribeiro in a 1-0 match.
