Yulman Ribeiro pitched in the Venezuelan Summer League in 2005, going 2-4 with a 3.00 ERA. In 2006, he fell to 2-3, 5.80 in the same league and threw 10 wild pitches in 40 1/3 IP. He pitched in Spain in 2008, going 4-6 with a 1.99 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 90 2/3 IP for CB Viladecans. He was 9th in the league in ERA and 5th in strikeouts. Ribeiro then signed with Bologna in Italy for 2009. In the Matino phase of the 2009 European Cup, Ribeiro led in ERA, after fanning 9 and allowing 4 hits in 7 shutout innings against the Templiers de Sénart. He debuted in the Italian Baseball League on April 11, allowing 3 runs in five innings in a no-decision against Parma. In the final phase of the 2009 European Cup, Ribeiro got the call in the finale against Nettuno and allowed one unearned run in 5 1/3 IP (on a throwing error by Matt Stocco), but that gave him the loss as Jeff Farnsworth was unhittable.
