Biographical Information[edit]
Mykyta Liabakh has been on the Ukrainian national team.
He allowed six runs (three earned) in two innings for BioTexCom KNTU in the 2023 Federations Cup. [1] In the 2023 European Championship, the 17-year-old started against the defending champion Dutch national team. He began by retiring former major leaguer Roger Bernadina and had faced just four more than the minimum through four as he was outdueling Mike Bolsenbroek. In the 5th, Ray-Patrick Didder homered after an error. Following a two-out walk to Didi Gregorius, he was relieved by Sergii Shtapura with the game still 2-2; Gregorius came around to score and Liabakah was tagged with the loss though his 3 unearned runs in 4 2/3 IP were far better than his bullpen's 13 earned runs in 4 1/3. In the 13th/14th place game, with the loser having to requalify for the Euros, he got the nod against Greece's Daniel Gosselin. He got Tom Roulis and Kasey Caras to start the game but then Dimitri Kourtis and Ari Sechopoulos singled. Liabakh walked Peter Dudunakis and Nick Spiliotis to make it 1-0. Antonio Torres singled to make it 2-0 and Liabakh got the hook; Shtapura allowed a two-run single and Liabakh would take the loss. He tied eight others for the tourney lead in losses, plus he tied for the most starts. His 6.75 ERA was third on Ukraine's ten-man staff, behind only Andrii Boiko and Danyil Khodakovskyi. [2]
