Danyil Khodakovskyi was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA for Ukraine in the 2021 U-23 European Championship, losing to German and Daniel Mendelsohn. [1] He debuted for Ukraine in a senior tournament in the 2021 European Championship, when the southpaw relieved Sergii Shtapura with a 6-0 deficit, no outs and one on in the second. He retired his first batter, Oscar Angulo but then gave up a RBI double to Jesús Ustariz. Later that inning, Gabriel Lino hit a 3-run homer. He lasted 2 2/3 IP (10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) before Andrii Boiko relieved. His strikeout was against Edgar Rondon. His other outing was against Russia, succeeding Ihor Lukin with two outs in the 7th, one on and two out, down 15-5. He walked Maxim Monakhov but retired Artem Logvinov to end the inning; the game ended after 7 due to the mercy rule. His 18.00 ERA tied fellow teenager Myroslav Zhylka for the median mark on the Ukrainian staff. [2]
