Biographical Information[edit]

Min-Lan Hsu played in the CPBL for 7 years.

Hsu represented Taiwan when they won the 1991 World Youth Championship. He was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the second round of the 2000 CPBL Draft, and he hit .263/.353/.364 in 24 games in 2000. He was then selected into the 2001 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-2. Hsu ended up hitting .205/.268/.247 in 37 games in 2001. Since the Brothers already had star first baseman Cheng-Min Peng, Hsu was mainly used as a pinch-hitter.

He recorded a .255/.375/.340 in 2002, then hit .242/.310/.306 in 2003. Hsu slumped to .197/.253/.316 in 2004, then he bounced back and hit .253/.313/.301 in a career-high 146 at-bats. He announced his retirement after hitting .242/.327/.284 in 2006, and he became a coach.

He was the fielding coach for the Brothers from 2007 to 2008, and worked as batting coach for them from 2009 to 2014. When Jui-Chen Chen was fired before the 2013 season, Hsu managed the Brothers for him in 3 days. He then coached Meiho High School from 2015 to 2016.

Overall, Hsu hit .240/.315/.310 with 148 hits in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
