Biographical Information[edit]

Lorenzo De La Cruz played in minor leagues and Taiwan.

De La Cruz was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993, and he hit .298/.383/.567 for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in his first year. His batting line was .243/.298/.429 with the Hagerstown Suns in 1994, and he collected 12 triples with a .274/.340/.408 batting line for the Knoxville Smokies in 1995. De La Cruz led the Southern League in triples, 2 more than Ruben Santana. He crushed 18 homers with a .247/.312/.442 batting line in 1996, and he was 10th in RBI (between Stoney Briggs and Mike Cameron). After hitting .336/.410/.555 in 39 games for the Smokies in 1997, De La Cruz reached AAA but his batting line fell to .219/.254/.367 with the Syracuse SkyChiefs.

The Blue Jays released him after the 1997 season, and he hit .340/.417/.646 for the Allentown Ambassadors of the Northeast League. De La Cruz led the league with 85 RBI, ranking 7th in hits (between Dan Kopriva and Kevin Dattola), 2nd in homers (2 behind Dattola) and 3rd in batting (between Andres Duncan and Erskine Kelley). The Uni-President Lions of the CPBL then signed him, and he hit .277/.371/.518 with 11 homers in 1999. He was 5th in homers, tied with Juan Parra and Wen-Bin Chen. De La Cruz then signed with the Pericos de Puebla in 2000, and his batting line was .313/.418/.608 with 29 homers. He hit .291/.384/.468 for Puebla in 2001, and he also played 13 games for the Lincoln Saltdogs. De La Cruz recorded a .367/.445/.583 batting line for the Adirondack Lumberjacks in 2002, and he hit with the Bangor Lumberjacks in 2003. The 2003 season was his last season as a professional player.
