Biographical Information[edit]
Kevin Dattola played in the minor leagues, KBO and CPBL.
Dattola was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 15th round of the 1990 Amateur Draft, and he hit .270/.415/.345 for the Southern Oregon A's while having a .324/.378/.392 batting line in 25 games with the Madison Muskies in his first year. He collected 29 steals with a .293/.401/.418 batting line for the Modesto A's in1991, but his batting line fell to .235/.326/.295 for the AA Huntsville Stars. Dattola had a .247/.331/.330 batting line for Huntsville in 1992, then he hit .253/.331/.419 there in 1993. He also played 25 games for AAA Tacoma Tigers, but he struggled as his batting line was .193/.246/.211, and the Athletics released him. Dattola then signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, and he hit .291/.379/.435 for them in 1994.
In 1995, Dattola hit .339/.425/.535 with 14 homers in Winnipeg, and he also spent some time with Union Laguna Algodoneros of the Mexican League. He then signed with the Mercuries Tigers of Taiwan, and he had a .265/.345/.490 batting line in 18 games. Dattola recorded a .250/.381/.395 batting line for the Goldeyes after leaving Taiwan, and he also played 27 games with a .271/.361/.383 batting line for the St. Paul Saints. He hit .281/.393/.401 for the Saints in 1997, and he crushed 17 homers with a .309/.382/.586 batting line for the Adirondack Lumberjacks while hitting .316/.328/.491 for the New Jersey Jackals in 1998. Dattola led the Northeast League in homers, ranking 8th in hits (between Lorenzo De La Cruz and Wayne Weinheimer) and 9th in RBI (between Juan Guerrero and Jon Mueller). The LG Twins then signed him, and Dattola blasted 9 homers with a .279/.349/.434 batting line in 1999. He hit .300/.363/.481 with 21 homers for the Somerset Patriots in 2000, ranking 4th in RBI (tied with Ric Johnson) and 3rd in hits (between José Malavé and Dave Steed). He then recorded a .274/.344/.422 batting line for the Patriots in 2001, and he played 14 games combined for the Yucatan Leones and Piratas de Campeche in Mexico.
