Lindsay Foster is a former minor league baseball shortstop/third baseman who played in the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox organizations from 1986 to 1992.
After being drafted 52nd overall in the 1986 amateur draft by the Blue Jays, Foster began his professional career with the Medicine Hat Blue Jays that very year. In 40 games with them, he hit .283 with zero home runs, 16 RBI and five stolen bases.
He split time between the St. Catharines Blue Jays and Myrtle Beach Blue Jays in 1987. Combined, he played in 95 games, collecting 87 hits in 347 at-bats for a .251 batting average. Scoring 49 runs, he hit two home runs, drove in 30 and stole 11 bases.
In 1988, he split time between the Dunedin Blue Jays and Knoxville Blue Jays. He appeared in exactly 100 games combined, hitting .250 in 296 at-bats. He hit two home runs, drove 26 runs in and stole four bases.
Foster wound up in the Indians farm system by way of an unknown transaction. Playing for the Canton-Akron Indians in 1989, he appeared in 70 games, hitting .265 in 181 at-bats. He drove in eight runs and stole 15 bases.
1990 was a career year for Foster. Splitting time between the Kinston Indians and Canton-Akron Indians, he played in a total of 104 games, hitting .276 in 370 at-bats. He stole a career high 36 bases, with his 35 steals for Kinston leading the team.
On December 4, 1990, the Indians sent Foster and Cory Snyder to the White Sox for Eric King and Shawn Hillegas. It was in the White Sox organization that Foster would spend the final two years of his pro career.
Playing for the Birmingham Barons in 1991, his batting average dropped to .212, although he did steal 23 bases (which led the team) and score 40 runs in 116 games. The following year, he played 76 games with Birmingham and a single game with the Vancouver Canadians. Overall, he hit a combined .224 in 214 at-bats. He scored 24 runs and stole eight bases.
Overall, Foster played seven years in the minor leagues. In 602 games, he collected 477 hits in 1918 at-bats for a .249 batting average. He hit 54 doubles, 14 triples and five home runs. He scored 249 runs, drove 159 in, and stole 102 bases.
