Lake Erie Monarchs
- League: Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
- Stadium: Flat Rock Field
- Location: Flat Rock, MI
The Monarchs joined the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League in 1999, and were originally based in Monroe, MI.
Like other Summer Collegiate Baseball teams, the Lake Erie Monarchs are dedicated and designed to providing higher level competition for NCAA players that wish to continue on into professional baseball. The Monarchs operate in a similar manner to a Minor League team: playing nightly in stadiums before fans, using wood bats and minor league specification equipment, and experiencing road trips between games. Like all other summer collegiate players, the Monarchs are unpaid in order to maintain their NCAA eligibility, and live with host families in the same manner as Single A and Independent League players.
In their existence, the Lake Erie Monarchs have made many accomplishments including: In 2001, the Monarchs played the final game ever at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, MI. In 2004, 2006 and 2014 the Monarchs toured Alaska as guest members of the Alaska Baseball League. All the while the Monarchs have maintained a ticket price of $5.
Before the start of the 2014 season the Monarchs found a new home in Flat Rock, MI. They play their home games at the Flat Rock Community Fields, which are normally used as high school fields. The Monarchs have been very up and down since their move to Flat Rock compiling an 84-80 record since the move. The 2017 season was a historic one for the Monarchs as they went 27-15 in the regular season, a team record for wins. They won the north, their season came to an abrupt halt after an ugly 6-0 loss in the play-in game.
