Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Brdar played college ball at Diablo Valley College and the University of Michigan. He graduated from the latter in 2017 with a degree in economics. The St. Louis Cardinals drafted Brdar in the 36th found of the 2017 amateur draft and he played one season for the GCL Cardinals as a utility player.

Brdar left the Cardinals to become director of program development at Michigan in 2018. He was later promoted to volunteer assistant coach for the 2019 season.

The San Francisco Giants hired Brdar for a dual role in 2020. He was named the minor league assistant hitting coordinator and the hitting coach of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The next year he served as the Giants' Minor League Hitting Coordinator. In 2022 Brdar switched teams within the division when he was named hitting coach of the San Diego Padres. In 2023, he moved to the Detroit Tigers as one of two hitting coaches, alongside Keith Beauregard. He remained in this role in 2024.
