Amateur Career

Wilson had a 7-3, 2.00 record as a high school senior with 55 strikeouts, winning All-league honors. He was 2-1 with 3 saves and a 5.63 ERA as a college freshman. He had a .340 opponent average and a 7.71 ERA as a sophomore. He had a 1.54 ERA and five saves for the Peninsula Oilers in the Alaska Baseball League that summer. He missed his junior year, 2004, due to arm injury. The Los Angeles Dodgers still took him in the 22nd round of the 2004 amateur draft.

Organized Baseball

Kyle began his pro career in 2005, with the Columbus Catfish (1-2, 2 Sv, 2.16, 31 K in 25 IP, .184 opponent average in 20 G) and the Vero Beach Dodgers (0-2, 4 Sv, 8.05, .349 opponent average in 18 G). In '06, he went 2-6 with 9 saves and a 3.62 ERA for Vero Beach, striking out 67 in 59 2/3 IP and a .228 average allowed. He excelled for the 2007 Inland Empire 66ers (1-0, 14 Sv, 1.09 in 25 G) before a shoulder injury sent him down for the year. He was third in the California League in saves, two behind Chad Rhoades and Daniel Stange. He returned to action in 2008 with the GCL Dodgers (1-1, 1 R in 10 IP) and the Jacksonville Suns (1-0, 4.26 in 9 G), ending his time in the LA system.

Independent Leagues

Wilson pitched in 2010 for the Victoria Seals (0-1, 9.69 in 9 G, 22 BB in 26 IP) and Orange County Flyers (2 R in 4 1/3 IP). The next year, the righty was with the Chico Outlaws (2-4, 5.32) and Rockland Boulders (1-3, 5.79, 14 BB in 14 IP). He spent 2012 with the Gary SouthShore RailCats (1-3, 7.48) and Laredo Lemurs (0-1, 2.31 in 10 G). Overall, he had a 1.79 WHIP and 5.95 WHIP between the two American Association clubs.

He was with the British national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (his mother is a British citizen), but was their worst hurler. Against Team Canada in their opener, he relieved Chris Reed with a 2-0 deficit, two out and one on in the third. He struck out Jimmy Van Ostrand to end the inning and was replaced by Michael Roth to open the 4th. Wilson got the start against Germany but retired no one. He began by walking Eric Suttle. Matt Vance laid down a bunt hit on a sacrifice attempt, then Wilson made an error on a pick-off attempt. He walked Max Kepler and threw an opening ball to Donald Lutz; at that point, 13 of his 17 pitches had been balls. He was yanked in favor of Greg Hendrix, who let all three inherited runners score. Britain went on to lose, 16-1.
