Biographical Information

Chen-Hao Wang played nine seasons in the Chinese Professional Baseball League and twice hit .300, but never appeared for the Taiwan national team.

Wang debuted in 1997 with the Chinatrust Whales, hitting .249/.318/.305. He was selected into the 1997 CPBL All-Star Game as a rookie, and he was 0-for-1. Wang improved to .300/.356/.421 with the 1998 Whales, then .310/.380/.438 for a career year in 1999. Wang also attended the 1999 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-1. That year, he made the Best Nine as the top catcher in the CPBL. As the starting catcher, he and Bernie Tatis had a collision at home plate in the 5th inning of 1999 Taiwan Series Game 1. Wang punched Tatis on his abdomen, and he was banned for 10 games. In 2000, he hit .281/.347/.438 and won Best Nine honors again, this time at first base.

The Taipei native fell to .265/.329/.393 in 2001 and .222/.323/.347 in 2002. He appeared in the 2002 Taiwan Series, but he was 0-for-6 and the Whales were swept by the Brother Elephants. On March 5, 2003, he hit the 4,000th home run in CPBL history against Chin-Li Wang. He hit .283/.337/.372 in 2003, and batting .274/.353/.424 in 2004, his last season of regular action. He was pressed into service due to injury and had one game in 2006. Wang then became a trainer for the Whales. He also was the trainer for Taiwan in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He then coached Taiwan in the 2014 Asian Games, 2014 Haarlemse Honkbalweek, 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup and 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup.

Overall, Wang hit .276/.345/.396 with 484 hits and 33 homers in 442 games in 9 seasons in the CPBL.
