Biographical Information[edit]

Josh Rickards has pitched in the US, Netherlands, Italy and Germany.

Rickards was 3-1 with a 4.11 ERA as a college freshman and 6-4 with a 4.07 ERA as a sophomore. He was 8th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in wins and tied for 9th with 57 whiffs. He was 6-3 in the Northwoods League that summer, tying for 5th in wins. In 2008, he improved to 4-6, 2.60. He was second in the MAAC in ERA and tied for 8th in K (54). Back in the Northwoods League, he went 5-4 and made the league All-Star team. As a senior in college, he fell to 5-3, 5.60.

Signing with Germany's Solingen Alligators for 2010, he was superb at 9-2, 1.21 with 101 K and only 43 hits in 82 innings though he fell to 1-1, 4.11 in the postseason. In the regular season, he was among the northern Bundesliga-1 leaders in ERA (1st, .37 ahead of Danny Meier), 5th in strikeouts, 3rd in wins (behind Andre Hughes and Eugen Heilmann), 1st in WHIP (.96, .07 ahead of runner-up Hughes) and 1st in opponent OPS (450, 50 lower than #2 Meier). He pitched for Palfinger Reggio Emilia in the Italian minors in 2011.

In 2012, Josh returned to the US and was 2-2 with a 4.70 ERA for the Lake Erie Crushers. He was back in Europe with the Vaessen Pioniers the next year, going 9-2 with a 2.11 ERA, 92 strikeouts, 59 hits and 32 walks in 89 2/3 IP. He was among the 2013 Hoofdklasse leaders in ERA (6th, between Diegomar Markwell and Chris Mezger), opponent average (.192, 2nd, .003 behind Markwell), innings (5th, between Ivan Granados and Nick Veltkamp), strikeouts (tied for second with Markwell, 9 behind David Bergman) and wins (tied for second with Markwell, Veltkamp, Tim Roodenburg and Bergman, one behind Rob Cordemans). He helped the Pioniers make it to the 2013 Holland Series.
