Biographical Information[edit]

Josh Petersen played parts of two years in AAA.

Petersen was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 24th round of the 2002 amateur draft out of high school. He was undrafted out of junior college; New York Mets scout Joe Salermo signed him. He was a utility player for the 2004 Kingsport Mets, hitting .253/.341/.371 with 29 RBI in 53 games; he fielded .849 in 28 games as their main 3B and also played 14 games at 1B and 9 in the outfield. In 2005, he batted .286/.323/.418 with 27 runs in 46 contests as a corner infielder for the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Josh played 91 games for the '06 St. Lucie Mets, mostly backing up at 3B and in the outfield. He hit .234/.274/.334 with 71 K to 14 BB. As a corner infielder-corner outfielder for St. Lucie the next year, he improved his batting line to .277/.318/.417, with 40 runs and 7 homers in 89 games. He split 2008 as a utility man between St. Lucie (.220/.264/.280 in 14 G), the Binghamton Triplets (.288/.344/.403 in 72 G) and the New Orleans Zephyrs (3 for 15).

He was primarily a corner outfielder in 2009, in which he played for Binghamton (.326/.409/.442 in 57 G) and the Buffalo Bisons (.248/.283/.317 in 31 G), hitting .298/.366/.397 in 315 plate appearances overall, with 14 doubles. It would be his best overall campaign. In 2010, he was mostly a third baseman with three teams in the independent leagues: the St. Paul Saints (.237/.286/.305 in 32 G), Lake County Fielders (.278/.330/.371 in 26 G) and New Jersey Jackals (2 for 14). He was only 1 for 16 with 3 walks and 9 whiffs for the '11 Atlantic City Surf.

Petersen signed with the Haar Disciples in Germany for 2012. He hit .382/.455/.539 with 18 runs in 24 games. He was among the southern Bundesliga-1 leaders in average (10th) and hits (34, tied for 8th with Evan LeBlanc and Petr Čech). He remained with Haar for 2013-2014.

In 528 minor league games, Petersen hit .265/.319/.372 with 214 runs, 208 RBI and 27 home runs.
