Biographical Information[edit]
Joseph Orillana was the first two-time MVP of Baseball Philippines, taking home the award in Series 2 (2007) and Series 4 (2008). He helped the Philippines national team win the 2005 Southeast Asian Games, teaming with Roy Baclay in a no-hitter against Malaysia in the round-robin phase. He was with them for the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, going 0 for 7 as the backup 1B to Alejandro Velasquez. He also allowed nine hits and five runs in two innings on the mound. He also appeared in the 2006 Asian Games.
In the 2007 Asian Championship, the little left-hander was 0 for 2 as the backup to Velasquez at first. He helped the Philippines win Silver at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games and Gold in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. He played in the 2012 Asian Championship, losing a tight 1-0 game with eventual champion Japan. He was on the Filipino team but did not play in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He was listed as a coach for the team in the 2017 Asian Championship but got into one game as a backup first baseman, handling two putouts and not getting an at-bat.
