Biographical Information[edit]
Alejandro Velasquez hit .263/.300/.263 in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, playing 6 of the 7 games for the Philippines national team at first base. He scored two of their six runs in the tourney. He was 1 for 11 as a 1B/RF in the 2002 Asian Games, getting his lone hit off Chenhao Li; he was not unusual on a team that hit .149. He was with the Philippines in the 2003 Asian Championship and for a Gold in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.
In the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, Velasquez batted .190/.190/.190 as the starting Filipino 1B at age 40. He also was with the Philippines for the 2006 Asian Games. Velasquez helped the Philippines to a Silver Medal in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games and was 0 for 4 in the 2007 Asian Championship.
