Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Rigoli signed with the Oakland A's in 1978. He went 4 for 9 for the Bend Timber Hawks. In 1979, the catcher hit .230 in 61 AB for the independent Newark Co-Pilots. He later pitched for the Springfield (IL) Cardinals in 1984 while serving as the manager; he was in in mop-up duty in four games, with a 6.43 ERA, walking 6 in 7 innings. He was then a coach for the Louisville Redbirds in 1985.
In 2011 Rigoli is a pro scout for the St. Louis Cardinals. As an amateur scout, he signed Chris Lambert, Jason Motte, Mike Parisi and Gregg Pleeter.
His son, Matt Rigoli, was drafted in the 2008 amateur draft.
