Biographical Information[edit]

Jeff Ware was 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA for Team USA in the round-robin phase of the 1991 Pan-American Games. He was 3-3 with a 2.83 ERA for Team USA that summer. He pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1995 and 1996. Coincidentally, in 1996, a defenseman also named Jeff Ware made his debut with Toronto's NHL team, the Maple Leafs; both had short careers, with the baseball player getting into 18 games and the hockey one playing in 21. After his two partial seasons with the Blue Jays, Ware played one season in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system.

Ware then continued his pitching career in the independent leagues. He pitched for the Atlantic City Surf in 1998-1999 and helped the team to the league championship in their first season. He stayed in the Atlantic League in 2000, but switched to the Aberdeen Arsenal. In 2001 Ware pitched for the Tyler Roughnecks of the All-American Association. He completed his playing career and started his coaching career in 2002 as a player/pitching coach with the Jackson Senators of the Central Baseball League. The second phase of his coaching career started in 2007 when he joined the New York Yankees organization. Ware moved to the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2014. Ware was scheduled to be pitching coach of the Bisons in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. On July 13, 2022, he was named interim manager of the Bisons when the parent Blue Jays promoted manager Casey Candaele to bench coach of the major league team after the firing of manager Charlie Montoyo. The Jays did not make it immediately clear whether they wanted Ware to stay for the remainder of the season, or whether they would be looking for a permanent replacement. In 2023, he was promoted to the parent Blue Jays as assistant pitching coach responsible for the bullpen, a role he repeated in 2024.
