The Wakiki Beach Boys were a member of the Hawaii Winter League. They joined the league at its rebirth in 2006. The club was named after the group young men who are credited with the rebirth of surfing in Hawaii. During the team's inaugural season it finished with a 20-16 record and won the east division. They had four All-Stars that year - 3B Mark Minicozzi (.280/.363/.475, the league leader with 24 RBI and second in slugging, runs [24], homers [4, tied] and doubles [9, tied]), OF Dexter Fowler (.266/.380/.376), P Atsushi Nohmi (3-0, 1.29, 2nd in ERA) and RP Alex Hinshaw (1-1, 1.82). Rick Vanden Hurk (2-2, 3.60) led the league with 63 strikeouts while Marco Estrada (0-2, 1.19) led in ERA. 2B Eric Young Jr. (.287/.348/.366) tied for second with 14 steals.
