Alex Hinshaw is a left-handed relief pitcher who made his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants on May 15, 2008 against the Houston Astros.
Hinshaw was drafted by the San Francisco Giants three times: in the 28th round of the 2000 amateur draft out of high school, the 29th round of the 2002 amateur draft out of junior college and the 15th round of the 2005 amateur draft out of San Diego State University (he was also drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 25th round of the 2003 amateur draft). He was signed by scout Lee Carballo and made his pro debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 2005. Hinshaw missed one year of ball in college after Tommy John surgery.
