Biographical Information[edit]

Je-seong Bae pitched in the KBO.

Bae was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the 9th round of the 2015 KBO draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first two seasons. The Giants then traded him with Tae-gon Oh to the KT Wiz for Si-hwan Jang and Keon-kook Kim, and Bae had a 8.72 ERA in 21 games in 2017. He only pitched 3 games with the big club in 2018, and he broke out in 2019. Bae was 10-10 with a 3.76 ERA that season, and he became the first local pitcher for KT to get 10 wins in a season. He then had a 10-7 record with a 3.95 ERA in 2020, and his ERA was 3.68 in 26 starts with a 9-10 record in 2021. Bae led the league in walks in 2021, and he was 5th in losses (tied with Drew Rucinski, Odrisamer Despaigne, Tae-yang Lee and Min-woo Kim). He was named the starter of the 2021 Korean Series Game 4, and he pitched 5 innings with 3 runs allowed to help the Wiz sweep the Doosan Bears.

The Gunsan native went 3-9 with a 4.21 ERA in 2022, and he went 8-10 with a 4.49 ERA in 2023. Bae was 4th in losses (tied with Won-seok Oh, Charlie Barnes and Won-joon Choi) and 2nd in walks (16 behind Eui-lee Lee). He pitched 2 innings with 3 runs allowed in the 2023 Korean Series Game 4, but the LG Twins beat the Wiz in 5 games. Bae missed the next season due to military service.

Bae's repertoire included a fastball (peak 93.8 mph), changeup and slider.
