Infielder Jamie Keefe played for nine seasons in the minors then became a manager. He peaked at AAA as a player.
He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 1992 amateur draft. The 91st pick, he was the fifth straight high school position player Pittsburgh took that year, following Jason Kendall, Shon Walker, Danny Clyburn and Trey Beamon. Keefe debuted with the GCL Pirates that summer, fielding .904 at short and batting only .190/.277/.210 with one extra-base hit in 33 games. Moving to second base in 1993, he played for the GCL Pirates (7 for 14, 2 BB) and Lethbridge Mounties (.204/.331/.234, 26 BB, 27 R, 9 RBI in 46 G). In his last season in the Buc system, he appeared for the Welland Pirates (.230/.264/.276 in 27 G) and Augusta Greenjackets (.266/.350/.290 in 50 G), fielding a combined .929 at 2B and getting caught in 12 of 25 steal attempts.
Jamie then moved to the San Diego Padres chain. He spent 1995 with the Clinton Lumber Kings, posting a .240/.335/.286 line and going 12-for-15 in steal attempts. He also hit his first pro homer. He was their #2 second baseman but also saw action at short, third and in the outfield. In 1996, he bounced around the Padres chain as a utility player. He had stops with Clinton (.302/.475/.434, 34 BB in 32 G), the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (.234/.354/.438 in 24 G) and the Memphis Chicks (3 for 17, 3 BB). In 1997, he was a bench player for the Mobile BayBears (.268/.362/.366 in 16 G) and Las Vegas Stars (.190/.338/.345 in 42 G), playing more outfield (18 games) than any other position.
The New Hampshire native spent his final three seasons as a player in the independent leagues. In 1998, he appeared for the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs (.279, .396 SLG in 36 G), Bend Bandits (.221, .284 SLG in 31 G) and Massachusetts Mad Dogs (11 for 41, 2 2B, 3B, HR). In 1999, he hit .239/.385/.330 for the Chillicothe Paints, scoring 20 runs in 25 games and going 9-for-9 in steal attempts. Back with the Paints the next year, he fell to .208/.318/.361 with 15 runs in 20 contests to end his playing career.
Keefe managed Chillicothe of the Frontier League from 2001 to 2004 and led the Florence Freedom from 2005 to 2008. He guided the Kalamazoo Kings for the latter part of 2010. In 2011, he was appointed manager of the Pittsfield Colonials in the Canadian-American Association, replacing Brian Daubach. He became manager of the Rockland Boulders in 2013 and won the Can-Am Association championship with them in 2014.
