Biographical Information

Infielder Jack Lind has the distinction of having been a teammate of both the American and Japanese home run kings. In 1975, he was a teammate of Hank Aaron on the Milwaukee Brewers. Two years later, in 1977, he played for the Yomiuri Giants with Sadaharu Oh.

After his playing career ended, Lind was an assistant coach at Arizona State University in 1981-1982 and a longtime minor league manager. He was a coach for the Buffalo Bisons in 1988. Lind was the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league field instructor in 1989 and minor league coordinator of instruction from 1990 to 1996. Moving to the big leagues, he was the Pirates' third base coach from 1997 to 2000 and a scout in 2001-2002. In 2006 he was manager of the Lexington Legends of the South Atlantic League. In 2017, he became first base coach and hitting coach for Germany's Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg.

His son, Zachary Lind, is the drummer for the band Jimmy Eat World.
