Biographical Information[edit]
Iggy Escaño has been on the Philippines national team.
Escaño represented the Philippines in the 2017 Asian Championship, hitting .154/.143/.231. [1] He remained with them for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, helping them win Gold. [2] He remained with them for the 2019 Asian Championship. He was 0-for-1 in his debut against Pakistan, and he was 0-for-1 again versus South Korea. He then started against Hong Kong, and he was 1-for-3. [3] He was the All-Star first baseman in the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup, hitting .313 with five runs and five RBI in four games for the champs. [4]
In the 2022 Asian Games (which were held in 2023 after delays), he debuted against Japan, and he was 1-for-3 with a hit from Mizuki Kato in the 5th inning. Escano then got another single against Ningji Li of China in the 8th inning, and he went 1-for-1 with a double from Yayua Wa against Laos. Escaño was 0-for-2 in his last two games in this event against Hong Kong and Thailand. [5]
In the 2023 Asian Championship, Escaño drew 3 walks and scored 2 against Thailand to help his team get the win in their first game. He went 1-for-3 with a 2-run single against Muhammad Zohaib of Pakistan, and he was 1-for-4 with a double against Japan's Hiroki Suzuki. Escaño then had a 0-for-3 record against South Korea, and he was hitless in 2 at-bats against Chinese Taipei. In the Bronze Medal game, Escano was 0-for-2 again and South Korea shutout the Philippines.[6]
