Biographical Information[edit]

Hernando Mejía has pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

He was signed by Philadelphia Phillies scout Alvaro Blanco in January 2018. [1] He was 1-1 with a 3.54 ERA for the 2018 DSL Phillies Red and 3-3 with 3 saves and a 5.80 ERA in 21 games for the '19 DSL Phillies White. He walked 30 in 35 2/3 IP and uncorked 11 wild pitches. He pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings with 8 K in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup. [2] He was very sharp in the 2023 Caribbean Series, with four hitless, scoreless innings (though he walked five) for the Vaqueros de Montería. He got the win over the Agricultores de Granma y Las Tunas and Jonathan Carbó.

With Colombia for the 2023 Pan American Games, he took over for Randy Consuegra with a 3-1 deficit in the third, no outs and one on against Cuba. He hit Erisbel Arruebarruena and Dayán García then Luis Gonzalez grounded in a run but he recovered to retire Yasniel González and Andrys Pérez. After Colombia tied it in the 4th, he walked Yadil Mujica and Roel Santos hit into an error. He recovered to retire Roberto Baldoquín then was relieved by Carlos Díaz, who closed out the inning without letting the runners score. [3]
