Biographical Information[edit]

Andrys Pérez has played in Cuba.

Pérez was 2 for 8 in the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, backing up Marcos Betancourt at catcher. [1] Debuting in the Cuban Serie Nacional with the Cocodrilos de Matanzas in 2019-2020, he hit .281/.346/.355, starting behind the dish as a rookie for the league champs.

In 2020-2021, he fell to .225/.318/.308 but threw out 50% of those who tried to steal. He was named the league's top defensive backstop. [2] He drove in five in the opening game of the 2021 Caribbean Baseball Cup as Cuba finished second. [3]

He batted .200/.368/.200 for Cuba in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup and again threw out 50%. [4] In 2021-2022, he produced at a .256/.324/.284 clip. He hit .286/.389/.357 and played error-free defense in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup. [5] He batted .350/.383/.525 for the Centrales in the 2022 Cuban Elite League.

Andrys then made the Cuban national team roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. [6]
