Biographical Information[edit]

Giulio Monello has played in Serie A1 and for the Italian national team.

In the 2015 European Junior Championship, he was 3 for 8 with a homer, four runs and five RBI for Italy. [1] He batted .300/.375/.300 in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup, used primarily at DH. [2] He made his Serie A1 debut in 2016 (though the league was then known as the Italian Baseball League), hitting .118/.180/.140 at age 17 for Novara.

He batted .333/.357/.542 with six RBI in six games in the 2016 European Junior Championship; he and teammates Cesare Astorri and Leonardo Seminati had the tourney's lone homers. He tied Oliver van der Wijst for 5th in total bases. [3] He posted a .189/.271/.226 batting line for Novara in 2017. [4] He did not play in Italy's top loop in '18 but returned in 2019, going 3 for 24 with 4 walks for the Rangers Redipuglia.

Monello hit .548 for Odessa Junior College in 2019-2020. [5] moved to ASD San Marino for 2020 and hit .136/.246/.237 while backing up Simone Albanese at catcher. In the 2020 Italian Series, he was 6-for-18 with a walk and two doubles, though, as San Marino fell to Bologna in six games. In 2021, he was 8 for 33 in all rounds for Parma, now splitting action with Alberto Mineo.

Giulio slipped to .175/.313/.350 for St. Edward's College in 2022. In the 2023 Serie A1, he hit .259/.402/.329 for Parma while playing error-free defense. He was 0 for 3 in the 2023 European Champions Cup. [6] He made Italy's team for the 2023 European Championship. He struck out against Hungary's Sean Fekete his first time up but doubled off Tibor Bagyinszki later that day for his first hit. As a part-time C/DH, he was 4-for-12 two walks, a double, two runs and three RBI, handling 15 chances error-free and throwing out one of two who tried to steal. [7]
