Biographical Information[edit]

Gino Caruso pitched in the minor leagues and CPBL.

Caruso was signed by the Texas Rangers in 1992, and he had a 4.76 ERA in 7 games with the AZL Athletics in his first year. He also pitched 12 games for the Southern Oregon A's, and his ERA was a solid 0.42. He then went 7-5 with a 3.17 ERA for the Pocatello Posse in 1993, and he was 8-2 with a 3.58 ERA for the Stockton Ports the next summer. Caruso's ERA was 6.08 in 46 games in 1995, and he left the Twins organization. He was 8-8 with a 2.28 ERA with the Newburgh Night Hawks in 1996, and he had had a 11-5 record with a 3.11 ERA for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 1997. He tied Rick Forney and Aaron Jersild for the Northern League lead in wins and was 3rd with 132 K (after Jeremy McGarity and Jeff Zimmerman).

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed him in 1998, but he allowed 8 runs in 5 2/3 innings with the Carolina Mudcats. He then signed with the Brother Elephants of the CPBL, and he was 7-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 1998 CPBL. He ranked 8th in strikeouts, between Rafael Pina and Carlos Rivera. Caruso's ERA rose to 7.36 in 2 games in 1999, and the Brothers released him. He then went 6-9 with a 4.30 ERA with the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, and he represented the USA in the 1999 Intercontinental Cup. He was 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA in the Cup, losing to Faustino Corrales of the powerful Cuban national team. Caruso slumped to 3-4 with a 6.59 ERA in Mexico in 2000, and he was 4-3 with a 3.17 ERA for the Schaumburg Flyers. His ERA was 8.70 in 20 games combined for 2 teams of the Western League in 2001, and his professional career ended.
