Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Rick Forney was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 26th round of the 1991 amateur draft. He tied for the 1991 Gulf Coast League lead with 7 wins. He played five seasons in the Baltimore organization, briefly reaching the AAA level with the Rochester Red Wings in 1995. After spending a year in the Texas-Louisiana League, he joined the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 1997 and led the Northern League with 11 wins. The next year, he again won 11 and led the circuit with 113 strikeouts.

Forney retired as a player in 2000 and became the Goldeyes pitching coach. He took over as the club's skipper in 2006.
