Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Frankie Thon played in the San Francisco Giants system from 1978 to 1980, slashing .246/.299/.289 with 121 hits in 158 games over 3 seasons. He later became a longtime scout, signing, among others, Dennis Colon, Adam Eaton, Yogey Perez-Ramos, Rubén Sierra Jr., Kevin Torres and Touki Toussaint. He worked for the Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks. He managed the Cangrejeros de Santurce from 1997-1999, between Pete Mackanin and Ken Griffey Sr.

His brother is Dickie Thon, his son is scout Frankie Thon, Jr. and his son is Fred Thon, who played in the Brooklyn Dodgers system in 1940. He is also related to Freddie Thon, who played in the minors and became a scout and Dickie Joe Thon, who has played and managed in the minors.
