Biographical Information

Yogey Perez-Ramos played in the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league system from 2012 to 2013.

Prior to playing professionally, he was with the Tigres de Ciego de Avila of the Cuban National Series from 2005 to 2009. He backed up Danny Miranda at 1B as a rookie in 2005-2006, going 0 for 2 with a walk. In 2006-2007, he batted .174/.224/.196 in 26 games followed by .223/.287/.291 in 43 games in 2007-2008. Yorelvis Charles moved to 1B in 2008-2009, reducing Perez-Ramos to 18 plate appearances (3 for 16). Backing up Charles in 2009-2010, he hit .387/.446/.600 in 83 plate appearances.

After defecting, he attended attended college before being drafted in the 17th round of the 2012 amateur draft by Arizona. The scout was Frankie Thon.

He played for the Yakima Bears in 2012, hitting .285/.336/.365 in 35 games. With the Hillsboro Hops in 2013, he hit .314/.382/.398 with 15 steals in 19 tries in in 67 games to earn Northwest League Mid-Season All-Star honors. Despite the impressive slash line, he was a bit old for the level at which he was playing and the Diamondbacks released him. Overall, he hit .304/.367/.387 in 102 games.
