Biographical Information[edit]

Elio Padilla was on the Bolivian national team in the 2011 South American Championship and 2012 South American Championship. He pitched two games for them in the 2013 Bolivarian Games (7 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 1 K, 1 BB in 4 2/3 IP), getting no decisions. He also played DH one game, going 1 for 2 with a hit-by-pitch; it was one of their two hits in a loss to Ecuador. He played for Bolivia in the 2015 South American Championship.

Joined by his brother Gabriel Padilla in the 2016 South American Championship, he was 0-1 with a 10.57 ERA in two games, losing to Colombia. Only Walter Vargas had a lower ERA among Bolivian hurlers who worked an inning or more on a high-ERA staff. The Padilla brothers both represented Bolivia in the 2018 South American Championship. Playing the infield in addition to pitching, Elio was 1 for 10 with a run; his lone hit came off Andres Rodriguez ofChile. On the mound, he went 6 innings and allowed 14 hits, 12 runs (all earned) and 3 walks while fanning none. He was third on Bolivia's staff in ERA, behind Ronald Quiroga and Marco Davalos. All his pitching came in a loss to Silver Medal winner Brazil; Yausmel Alfaro finished it up.
