Doug Little made it as high as AAA.

Little was 16-2 for Florida State in 1985, tying Mark Gardner and Mike Cook for fifth in NCAA Division I in wins, behind only Greg Swindell and Jeff Brantley. He holds the NCAA Division I record for most career starts with 78. The St. Louis Cardinals took him in the 7th round of the 1985 amateur draft, one selection before Jeff Ballard, but he did not sign. He was chosen by the Chicago White Sox in the tenth round of the 1986 amateur draft, one pick before Curtis Pride.

In his pro debut, Doug was 0-2 with 3 saves and a 2.32 ERA in 15 outings for the Peninsula White Sox. Moving up to the Daytona Beach Admirals in 1987, he posted a 8-10, 2.64 record with one save. He was 10th in the Florida State League in ERA. The right-hander was 12-13 with a 3.98 ERA for the 1988 Birmingham Barons, walking only 39 in 171 2/3 innings. He led his club in wins, but was only one less behind Southern League leader Kirk McDonald. Little split 1989 between Birmingham (4-2, 5 Sv, 1.29 in 19 G) and the Vancouver Canadians (1-1, 4.74 in 10 G).

Overall, he was 25-28 with 9 saves and a 3.17 ERA in 99 minor league games (51 starts).
