Biographical Information[edit]
Chung-Kuang Tsai pitched in the Taiwanese national team and the CPBL.
Tsai represented Taiwan in the 1990 Haarlemse Honkbalweek. The China Times Eagles signed Tsai in 1997. He only pitched 21 innings with a 5.57 ERA in his rookie year. When the Eagles dissolved after the 1997 season, the Sinon Bulls picked him up. Tsai spent the next two seasons primarily in the CPBL minors, only having two appearances in 1998 and 1999. He gained some chances in 2000, but his ERA was still 4.98 in 47 innings, and he was used as low-leverage inning eater. The Kaohsiung native finally had his first productive season in 2001. He played a career-high 36 games with a 4.68 ERA. Although he recorded a solid 3.10 ERA in 29 innings pitched in 2002, the 37-year-old Tsai announced his retirement after the 2002 season, and became a coach. He was the pitching coach for the Bulls from 2008 to 2009. He also coached the Chinese Taipei national baseball team in 2013 East Asian Games and 2013 World Port Tournament.
Overall, Tsai was 2-5 with a 4.68 ERA and pitched 144 2/3 innings in six seasons in the CPBL.
