Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Morales has pitched in the minors and for the Mexican national team.

Morales debuted in 2017 with the Diablos Rojos del México in 2017, going 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 15 games. The Mexican League went into a two-season format for 2018. In the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he had a 3.21 ERA in three outings (two starts). [1] He had a 5.56 ERA in 8 games for the Guerreros de Oaxaca in the spring season. He split the fall season between Oaxaca (0-1, 4 R in 6 IP) and the Diablos Rojos (0-1, 3 R in 1 IP). That winter, he was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in five outings for the Venados de Mazatlán. In 2019, he pitched both for México (2 R in 5 IP) and his hometown Saraperos de Saltillo (12 R in 6 1/3 IP). He was 1-1 with a 3.41 ERA in winter ball for the Venados.

After the 2020 season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic, he had a 2-2, 4.69 record for Mazatlán in 2020-21, walking only 9 in 40 1/3 IP. In 2021, he was 0-1 with a 10.95 ERA for Oaxaca. In winter ball, he moved to the Algodoneros de Guasave and was 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA in 21 games. He finally became a LMB regular in 2022, when the 25-year-old was 6-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 43 games for the Sultanes de Monterrey, allowing only 26 hits in 40 2/3 innings. He was 2-2 with a save and a 3.06 ERA in 36 games for Guasave in the winter. He tied for 6th in the Mexican Pacific League in games pitched.

Pitching for Mexico in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he made one appearance. It was in Mexico's only loss on the way to Gold (their first Gold in a major baseball tournament, earning a spot in the 2023 Pan American Games. He relieved Yoanner Negrín with a 5-0 deficit, one on and one out in the second against the Dominican national team. He retired Luis Valenzuela and struck out Darlin Germán. In the third, he got Seuly Matias out then Wildert Pujols tripled. After a Kelvin Pena sac fly, Edgar Figueroa and Carlos Paulino both singled. Arturo López took over and escaped further harm. [2]
