Biographical Information[edit]

Bo Takahashi has pitched in the minors. He is the brother of Guilherme Takahashi. [1]

Takahashi participated in the MLB Elite Camp in Brazil from 2011-2013. He was signed by Arizona Diamondbacks scouts Mack Hayashi and Kelvin Kondo in December 2013. Debuting in the US in 2014, he was 3-4 with a 4.39 ERA for the AZL Diamondbacks. In 2015, he had a 8-1, 4.46 record for the Missoula Osprey. He led the Pioneer League in wins, one ahead of Jairo Pacheco and Cameron Smith.

He split the summer of 2016 between three teams - the Hillsboro Hops (5-2, 2.50), Kane County Cougars (1-1, 3.00) and Visalia Rawhide (0-1, 4.00) for a composite record of 6-4, 2.81. He then got a key start for the Brazilian national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers as the teenager faced Israel with a spot in the qualifier finals at stake. He fared well, allowing only two hits and one walk in four innings while fanning five. The lone run came when he faced three straight major leaguers on a double by Nate Freiman, an error by Dante Bichette Jr. on a grounder by Ike Davis and a sacrifice fly by Cody Decker. He was relieved by Murilo Gouvea but took a 1-0 loss as Corey Baker and his bullpen shut down Brazil's bats. For the tourney, he was second on Brazil in Ks, trailing only MLB veteran Andre Rienzo.

He was promoted to the major leagues by the 2019 Arizona Diamondbacks on August 18, 2019, but was optioned down on August 20 without appearing in a game.
