2010 European Cup[edit]

  • Support Game-by-game breakdown of the Cup. We haven't had any European tournaments as our featured article yet. - Mischa (talk) 16:59, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Neutral I'm not much for European baseball, and don't know how many Europeans use the Bullpen, but for those that are and do, this is a nice recap of the tournament. - Cmcgill (talk) 16:34, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I think the question that comes up is should the featured article focus on expanding on more well-known topics - for instance, the readers here probably all know of Bobby Avila but might have known of his soccer career, how he did in Cuba or his political career - or on whether they should help teach people about things they didn't know as much about - like all the interesting elements of Benny Distefano's career or that baseball is played in Europe with former and future major leaguers taking part in major tournaments. I can see both sides and have tried to alternate suggesting articles of more prominent and less prominent events. - Mischa (talk) 16:19, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Support I know how much work Mischa puts into these pages, as the information is not always readily available and there is no other website as comprehensive as ours where one can find information about these types of international tournaments. I'm surprised that there are no red links to be found. Good work there ! Philippe (talk) 19:30, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I spent time filling in the red links. I try to do this before proposing any page as a featured article candidate. Sometimes, it takes a lot of work - before I suggested the Dolf Luque page, there were plenty of Negro Leaguers to add pages for, some with lengthy careers (ex. Eustaquio Pedroso, Oscar Levis, Dave Brown). For Bobby Avila, there were only a handful of links to be filled in thankfully. I have thought of one day expanding Dave Roberts, which could lead to a lot of red links for Japanese players before it could be a featured candidate. - Mischa (talk) 19:47, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Neutral Not because it's not a great piece of work, it is. I love the Bullpen because it covers more of the lesser known leagues and tournaments, such as this. The benefit of a wiki like this is that it allows room for more novelty -- there is not a sclerotic, unbending standard as to what is notable -- and I would love to see more articles like this get featured, because it opens up more of the baseball world to the readers. But, my primary issue is its structure -- too many bullet points and short bursts of text, as well as lists and charts. While it's a fantastic piece of work, I just don't know if it is feature worthy. Alexsautographs (talk) 20:56, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Support Wonderful page. It's more a reference page than one you can read as an article, but there is a value in highlighting this kind of page also. As for being somewhat "obscure", I don't see any problem with that at all - many baseball fans would say that our detailed interest in anything other than the biggest major league stars is obscure. We do a service by bringing to light other aspects of baseball. - Randy (talk) 16:55, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
