Asian Baseball Cup
The Asian Baseball Cup existed from 1995-2010 as the second-tier event in Asian national team competition and was almost always a qualifier for the Asian Championship. The top three teams from Asia ( Japan, South Korea and Chinese Taipei) automatically qualified for the Championship so never played in the Cup and People's Republic of China only had to play in the Cup as a qualifier one time, usually getting an automatic bid to the Championship. Either the winner or top two teams qualified for the Championship, depending on the format for that year. After 2010, the event was split into the East Asian Baseball Cup and West Asian Baseball Cup.
