Biographical Information[edit]

Ashton Lansdell has been on the USA women's national team.

She was the first woman to be a starting pitcher in a Georgia 7A regional game, when she was in high school. [1] In the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, the 17-year-old was a backup infielder. She debuted against the Netherlands, replacing Jade Gortarez at short late in a rout. She flew out against Maria van Veen her first time up and was 0-for-4 for the event. [2] As an outfielder in the 2019 COPABE Women's Pan-American Championship, she hit .583 and was second on the US with 8 extra-base hits; she hit for the cycle against Cuba. [3]

In junior college, she played baseball. [4] Switching to softball for her sophomore year, she transferred to FIU and was their starting shortstop in 2023, ranking among the Conference USA leaders in steals. [5] Back in baseball, she represented the US in the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup, now as their leadoff hitter rather than a bench player. Her first Women's Baseball World Cup hit came off Sayuri Ono, a triple. In group play, she had four RBI against Canada and five runs versus Hong Kong. In that phase, she hit .316/.435/.632 with nine runs and six RBI in five games; she handled five chances error-free, She was among the leaders in runs (second, four behind teammate Alex Hugo), hits (6, tied for 4th with Denae Benites, Morgan Doty and Zoe Hicks), triples (1, tied for first with Benites, Nu-ri Shin and Sena Catterall), homers (1, tied for first), RBI (tied for 5th with Caitlin Eynon, Benites and Naomi Ryan) and total bases (12, 3rd, behind Hugo and Denise Perez). [6] In the finals, she was at .235/.391/.294 with seven runs in five games, going four-for-four in steals and fielding .950. She helped the US win their first Silver Medal in a decade, tying Miwa Naraoka for 5th in runs, tying for 5th in walks (3), finishing second to Catterall in swipes (two back), tying for second with 15 assists (one shy of Madison Willan).
