Biographical Information

Amila Pushpa Kumara has played for the Sri Lankan national team.

In the 2017 Asian Championship (Sri Lanka's first [[Asian Championship appearance), he struggled, going 0 for 8 with a hit-by-pitch and two errors in five chances. Sri Lanka then played in their first Asian Games. In their 2018 Asian Games opener, he batted second and played left field. He singled off Cola Phouangkeo of fellow newcomer Laos for Sri Lanka's first hit in an Asian Games; he then got their first run when Sameera Rathnayake drove him in. He finished the day 4-for-6 with a double, four runs and a RBI in a 15-10 win. The next day, he was 1 for 4 with a double (off Kevin Kawin Irwin), steal and a run in a 14-3 loss to Thailand as Sri Lanka was eliminated. For the first round, he had led Sri Lanka in hits (one ahead of Rathnayake), average (.056 ahead of Rathnayake) and runs (two ahead of Hena Kanakanamge Kasthuri Akala Ranasinghe) and handled his only chance in the field error-free. He tied Suratit Faengsup and Naruephol Muangkasem for 5th in the round in average, led in runs, tied in hits (with Chayaphat Suanthong, Nalor Gniatou and Jack Daru), tied Daru for first in doubles, 9th in slugging and tied for 7th in OBP.

The veteran was 4 for 4 with a RBI in his team's 5-1 loss to Hong Kong's Chi-Kam Kenneth Chiu in the 2019 Asian Championship, in a game where his teammates combined for one other hit. He went 3 for 5 with a double, two runs and a RBI in their win over Pakistan later in the event. He finished at .412/.412/.471 as he was hitless their other three games. Only Sandun Madushanka had a better average for Sri Lanka.
