Alacranes (Cuban Players League)

The Alacranes were third in the 1947-1948 Cuban Players League. They finished 44-47, six games behind the Leones. They were piloted by Dolf Luque. All-Stars were SS Avelino Canizares (.310, .370 SLG, a league-leading 53 runs and 114 hits), 3B Hector Rodriguez (.286, .391 SLG, a league-leading 10 triples and 19 steals), OF Roberto Ortiz (.311, .479 SLG, a league-leading 21 doubles and 55 RBI) and P Max Lanier (12-7). Jean-Pierre Roy (7-2), Alex Carrasquel (4-6), Sal Maglie (3-0), Booker McDaniels (0-3), Ramon Bragana (6-3), Jorge Comellas (3-2) and Agapito Mayor (8-11) all saw action on the mound.

Bus Clarkson (.198) struggled at the plate. Doing okay were Frank Campos (.260), Ducky Davenport (.260), George Hausmann (.268), Rene Gonzalez (.301) and C Red Steiner (.286).
