Biographical Information[edit]
Cuban-born Jorge Comellas pitched seven times with the Chicago Cubs in their pennant winning 1945 season. In 12 innings, he walked 6 and struck out 6 with an 0-2 record and 4.50 ERA. Jorge's minor league career ran from 1936 to 1949, earning roughly 140 victories. He was the number two pitcher for the 1937 Salisbury Indians who forfeited 21 wins to make their record 0-26, yet still won the pennant. Comellas was 22-1 with 204 strikeouts in 206 innings with 18 complete games... but teammate Joe Kohlman was the true star pitcher that year.
