Leones (Cuban Players League)

The Leones won the pennant in the only season of the Cuban Players League. Chico Hernandez managed the 50-41 club. All-Stars were P Sandy Consuegra (11-4), OF Luis Olmo (.318, .467 SLG) and 1B Carlos Blanco (.297, .352 SLG). Sandy Ullrich was 6-1 and Bobby Estalella (.295, .452 SLG) and Rene Monteagudo (.317) also chipped in. Oddly, they had the league leader in losses, Terris McDuffie (9-12). Others to appear for them included Fred Martin (9-9), Willie Jefferson (1-1), Theolic Smith (0-0), SS Lou Klein (.269), IF Marvin Williams (.286) and OF Ed Stone (.260) and Art Pennington (.234).
